WHAT CAN YOU DO IN 30 DAYS?

This 3-minute TED video sets the stage for my blog posts this week. Matt Cutts works for Google and has an intriguing 30-day challenge for you and me.

High points from the video:
  • Try something new for 30 days.
  • 30 days is just about the right amount of time to start a new habit.
  • Instead of months flying by, the time was much more memorable.
  • Self-confidence soared as the 30 day challenges became more challenging.
  • You can do ANYTHING for 30 days.
  • Small changes = sustainable results.
  • Question: "What are you waiting for? I guarantee you, the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not. Why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot … for the next 30 days."

MY 30-DAY CHALLENGE
I will write more about this tomorrow, but my 30-day challenge is to notice and record the "magic" moments of life. My wife does a marvelous job of recording our life using the philosophy behind Project 365. She takes a picture each day and writes a short blurb about the picture. She has been doing this for over a year now and it is a great way to remember our life. This is highly recommended.

Recording "magic" moments is about finding the small, magical times in life that we experience but rarely record. I will explain the process and, hopefully, compel you to try this 30-day experiment with me tomorrow.

QUESTION: What have you been putting off that could be the object of a 30-day challenge? Please leave comments below.

My first 30 day challenge to myself, is to write something for my blog everyday. Not to post but to Brainstorm and draft everyday.

Great stuff Jason - and I remember Matt's TED video when it came out. Very refreshing. My dad always told me 21 days makes/creates a habit, but 30 will surely work towards solidifying a daily practice.

This is a great challenge! I'm not sure which challenge I want to take on first, but I'm going to do it. I want to choose something that will be just for my own personal enjoyment - I need that! Thanks for a great post.

@Brent - That's a good challenge for yourself. It becomes challenging churning out good content on a regular basis.

@Cantrell - Thanks for the comment. Yep, I've always heard that 21 days is the magic number also.

@Sherri - If you can't think of a challenge, read tomorrow and you can join me.

Cool idea Jason! I just started this morning with "waking up at 6am to write." Writing is something I really want to get better at and putting it first thing in the morning reflects that. Good luck with your challenge!
